I’ve dabbled in conformation and lure coursing with my dogs. It’s more of a hobby and excuse spend time with my dogs than anything else right now, as I don’t have the time or finances to devote to full time traveling of the show circuit for a whole season. I do have dogs placed in homes that show and do dog sports, and I enjoy watching and learning from them.
I sell my puppies on strict limited registration. No dogs are released on unlimited registration (with breeding rights) unless I know the new owner is a reputable breeder or handler. Regarding the initial cost of a show potential puppy, I am willing to work with those willing to show and title a dog. However, those dogs will only be sold on a co-owned contract, with restrictions on breeding until the dog is titled and health tested. I especially encourage anyone interested in lure coursing their dog (see below) and Nosework. You’ll just need to speak with me about your intentions and experience.
For folks not interested in conformation/showing events, but would like to get their dog titled, they may earn titles through a great AKC performance event called lure coursing. This is an exciting competition for your dog that allows it to compete doing what it wants to do naturally: running! Your dog, as a limited registered dog, may compete in specific events called Fast CATs, but it IS limited in conformation/showing, and many other events.
If your dog, which you bought from me, places in any of these events then I am more than willing to discount your next puppy. Contact me, or check out https://www.akc.org/sports/coursing/fast-cat/ for more information.
